Why Buy Rare Books from Michael Hoffman?
Rare Books: are not solely about scholarship or a fine library -- they are also often a superb  investment.
Besides providing beauty and enjoyment, a rare book can also provide a return on your investment. If someone told you that you could double your money in 10 years, then you would probably listen. Rare books sometimes double in value every 10 years. A book that sold for $1,000 in 2000 could possibly be worth approximately $2,000 in 2010. We cannot guarantee that this will happen with a book you purchase from us, but in the opinion of many, rare books are sometimes a very safe investment. A book collector can gear his or her library toward value and investment, and we will be happy to assist you in this endeavor.

Will every single book double in value every 10 years? Not necessarily, and that is why Michael Hoffman is one of the most learned rare book sellers today. You are buying from a scholar and a working professional historian. The rare books that Hoffman offers are books which have the highest likelihood of maintaining increasingly high values over time. This is no accident. He knows history and recognizes great writers and exceptional books of the past. Nearly all of our books are titles and editions which have been rare and in demand since they were printed. The books we offer are truly exceptional artifacts of history. Owning these books is owning a piece of history.

Building a collection or library of rare books is sometimes not only a shrewd financial decision, it is an activity that can provide you with significant knowledge of our culture and civilization, and the beauty of owning and beholding the book craftsmanship of the past: the printed book as artifact and art work. Most books from 200, 300 and 400 years ago were printed on paper and bound in bindings meant to last a thousand years. How much of what we manufacture today can boast a similar destiny?

Owners of rare books are custodians of history for future generations.
