Memoir of Roger Brooke Taney. Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States (Text CD in a PDF file). By Samuel Taylor. Baltimore: John Murphy, 1872 (First edition). 655 pages. A photographic reprint in pdf text file. Co-written with Justice Taney. In 1858 Justice Taney wrote a 30-page addendum to his notorious Dred Scott decision, citing English Common Law and treaties dating to the 17th century. His addendum was not published in his lifetime and appeared for the first time only in this book, which also includes his fascinating autobiography. Taney was Lincoln's main opponent in the Constitutional crisis over the struggle over the suspension of the Writ of Habeas Corpus. Taney was a Roman Catholic jurist, Andrew Jackson's Attorney General, and the most controversial Supreme Court Justice in American history. (For background on Taney cf. New York: 1853. 157 pages. The full title is "The Bible vs. Tradition: In Which the True Teaching of the Bible is Manifested and the Corruptions of the Theologians Detected and the Traditions of Men Exposed." A very rare and hard to find book! Three pages of our facsimile text (pp. 6-8) have underlining, otherwise this facsimile scan is pristine and intact. This highly controversial work mainly builds on the writing of Deist Joseph Priestly (who was an influence on the Founding Fathers) in seeking to allegedly detect and expose Church traditions which are based on pagan sources rather than scriptural ones. Many traditional Church concepts are scrutinized. Original Rheims 1633 New Testament (Text CD in a PDF file). 761 pages with six, full page engraved illustrations. It was a  crime to possess this version of the New Testament in England. This is the 4th and final edition of the authentic Rheims New Testament. It was printed at Rouen in 1633. Under the supervision of Cardinal William Allen, the brilliant Oxford linguist Gregory Martin produced this original Rheims English translation. This is the English translation most faithful to the ancient Latin Vulgate. Also contains the extensive, hardcore Counter-Reformation margin notes by Richard Bristow, Dean of the University of Douay, which were eliminated by Challoner. The so-called Challoner "Rheims" Bible sold today is a dumbed-down, diluted counterfeit of this authentic Rheims New Testament. Important note: This is in the old style typesetting in which the letter "s" reads like the letter "f." The text contains many eccentric spellings such as "euil" for evil, "diuel" for devil, "al" for al, "welth" for wealth. Fortunately, because it is a PDF file, you can enlarge it on your computer screen. Entdecktes Judenthum (Text CD in a PDF text file). By Johann Andreas Eisenmenger. 2106 pages. Eisenmenger was an illustrious scholar and distinguished Professor of Hebrew and Aramaic at the University of Heidelberg.  This is a scanned facsimile of the original two-volume first edition of Eisenmenger's banned book, first published in 1700, and then seized by order of the Holy Roman Emperor. Entdecktes Judenthum was the inaugural scientific inquiry into Judaism. It is one of the rarest books in the world. The few copies still in existence that have not been destroyed, have been kept under lock and key until recently.We paid a large sum to have our copy of the suppressed first edition robotically scanned (so that the fragile pages of the priceless original volumes were not harmed). Eisenmenger's complete, original German masterpiece (not to be confused with the selections we have published in English, under the title Traditions of the Jews), is now preserved in this PDF text file.
